The Most Expensive Pizzas in the World

Pizza is the universal comfort food with endless varieties. Pizza has many healthy versions that cover all the necessary food groups, thus it can be considered quite nutritious compared to other fast foods. Another great thing about pizza is that it is widely available and quite affordable. The standard large sized pizza will cost you somewhere between $10 and $20, an amount most people easily spare for food that can be shared. Small brands and street vendors may sell it for even less – a wholesome slice costing as low as $1.
Nobody can resist the scrumptiousness of a good pizza, therefore it is no surprise that it has made its way into the elite dining scene. The pizzas for the rich are somewhat extraordinary, but the most shocking thing about them is their price tag. Some of these fancy pizzas are priced more than the cost of normal pizzas you would eat in a year (365 pizzas on average). Most of us would be driven to file for bankruptcy if we paid for even one of these out of our paycheck:

Gordon Ramsey’s Pizza

You have probably heard about celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey, who is popular for his cooking, unique personality, and harsh witty comebacks worldwide. His signature pizza costs $250, which is the lowest rate on this list. Now, what is so special about this pizza that makes it worth spending a quarter of a grand? The toppings include buffalo mozzarella, pancetta, fontina, Cep mushrooms, fresh herbs, Italian onion puree, and white truffle pasta. Apparently, not the ingredients you would expect on your regular pizza.

The One Percenter

The One Percenter pizza sold at Nino’s Bellisima Pizzeria in New York comes for a whopping thousand dollars. This pizza features six types of caviar that is alone worth $820, thus the $1,000 price tag isn’t all that unreasonable. This 12-inch thin crusted pizza also flaunts slices of Maine lobster. According to the pizzeria owner, the pizza is a big hit among those who know their caviar; that would be Wall Street’s finest, Hollywood stars, and politicians because I cannot think anyone else who would care about ridiculously expensive fish eggs.

The 24K Pizza

The 24K pizza is another extortionate pizza you may find in New York at Industry Kitchen. If you couldn’t guess, this $2,000 pizza comes covered in flakes of 24-karat gold. “I am so rich that even my pizza is adorned with gold” is quite the statement for illustrating one’s wealth. The pizza’s crust is infused with squid ink, and it is topped with imported white Stilton cheese, Foie Gras, truffles, and Ossetra caviar. If you want to show off even more, you can request an additional topping of Almas caviar for an extra $700, thereby fashioning a $2,700 pizza.

Pizza Royale 007

Domenico Crolla Restaurant in Haggis, Glasgow, UK, brings you the Pizza Royale 007 (inspired by none other than James Bond) for $4,200. You will certainly love this one if you have the refined palate of an infamous international spy. This 12-inch pizza is prepared with exclusive ingredients, such as lobster marinated in a hundred year old cognac, caviar soaked in Dom Perignon, venison medallions, prosciutto, and Scottish smoked salmon.

Pizza for Lovers

The heart shaped ‘Pizza for Lovers’ by Favitta’s Family Pizzeria in New York is all about making grand gestures for love; this grand gesture will cost you about $8,200. The pizza is quite ordinary at first glance, given the regular ingredients and toppings of your choice. The actual reason for the hefty price tag is that the pizza comes with a real diamond ring and a bottle of champagne. The cost of the pizza may fluctuate with the size of the diamond.

Louis XIII Pizza

Finally, we get to the most expensive pizza yet created on earth. The Louis X111 is a $12,000 masterpiece created by the celebrated pizza chef, Renato Viola, in Italy. The preparation time for this 20cm pizza is 72 hours, so one can assume that it looks and tastes special. The crust is made from Arabian flour, dusted with pink salt from Murray River. Toppings include Norwegian lobster, 7 assortments of cheese, and 3 rare kinds of caviar. The pizza is served with a range of expensive hand selected beverages that complement the lobster and caviar.
