World’s Most Expensive Guitar:
In 1993 Kurt Cobain played on Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged catapulting the 1959 Martin D-18E Acoustic Guitar into immortality.
On June 20th 2020 at the Music Icons event, run by Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills, California the guitar was sold at auction for $US6 million.
The buyer was Australian Peter Freedman, owner of Rode Microphones.
The previous record was for a black Stratocaster belonging to Pink Floyd‘s David Gilmour, which had sold for $US3.95 million in 2019.
